Portland-based
There are many wonderful cities, but this one is ours.
Welcome to the Portland Independent Chamber of Commerce.
There are many wonderful cities, but this one is ours.
Businesses that remain dedicated to independent ownership are an important part of Portland's unique culture. But it's not always easy to manage one and keep it afloat. PICOC is dedicated to a civic approach to ensuring that independent businesses in Portland feel that their voices are being heard, and that as a community we're doing everything we can to support them.
A healthy civic community depends upon the social contribution of businesses. PICOC supports Portland-based independent businesses - whether a sole-proprietor providing freelance design services, a 100 year old family-owned retail establishment, or a venture-backed startup - all have a valuable role to play, and need help learning how they fit into Portland's diverse social fabric.
Approximately once a month we announce a call to action to focus the community's attention on progressive causes that effect the welfare of our city. Previously, we helped a black-owned business raise the money they needed to stay in business on Mississippi Ave., hosted an event to support organizations that are working on housing the homeless in Portland, and rallied behind an effort to help Portland become an open data city.
We send out periodic emails to our supporters that usually highlight a call to action to benefit our local community. If you'd like to receive these emails you can join out list below.
